Bob Kiss’s cyanotype photo, LISTENING TO THE BLUES, was one of 50 photos chosen from hundreds of submissions to be included in the Soho Photo Gallery’s annual alternative photography show which began November 3rd in New York City.
Bob said, “I am very honored to be included in this prestigious show for the first time. I have a passion for the older photographic processes like Cyanotype and Platinum Palladium printing”.The cyanotype process was invented by Sir John Herschel in 1842 soon after he assisted Fox Talbot in his invention of the silver photographic process a few years earlier. In this age of digital photography, alternative/classical processes have become even more precious.
One of Kiss’ ongoing projects employs platinum-palladium printing to document chattel houses throughout Barbados. These photos will be featured in a book with text by Dr. Henry Fraser and a planned publication date of October, 2010.
