Our thanks to Director of the Ubuntu Trust, Bridget Thompson for the intro... Peter Clarke hails from South Africa and has been in Art for almost all of his life, visually he reminds me of a darker Clairmonte Taitt.
His linocuts and woodcuts remind me for the most part of cels from an animated feature yet to be fully crafted, and I want to view the whole feature! Most of his work is highly detailed in chronology, which is wonderful if you're tracing his evolution...
There's also a chance for Bajans to contribute to his next work, he wants old ticket stubs, certificates or other printed matter from Barbados. He used local material from his homeland to craft the mixed media "Tumbling" which is the centrepiece at the Errol Barrow Centre.
Why is he so fascinated with our island? Bridget was given a staement from Mr Clarke which explains it all;-This shows why Professor George Lamming was there, and he was very charming, relaxed and affable as always.
The pictures are serious investments, this exhibition runs until May 15th...
