World Arc to Arrive At Port Louis Grenada This Week

Grenada will soon be host to a fleet of yachts competing in one of the world’s most famous yacht races. Since March 10th, yachts competing in the World ARC Round the World Rally started arriving at the Port Louis Camper and Nicholsons Marina.

This is the first time that this race is making a stop in Grenada and officials at Camper & Nicholsons are excited about it. General Manager Clyde Rawls says that his team at Camper & Nicholsons is eagerly awaiting the arrival of the yachts. “We are very pleased that Grenada has been added to the World Arc Schedule. This race is a very important one in the yachting arena and it will give our marina and indeed Grenada excellent publicity,” Rawls remarked. "We have no doubt that Grenada has been added because of the improvement in the yachting facilities in Grenada, with the development of the Port Louis Marina. We want to ensure that when the yachts arrive that the crews have a great time here.”

The World ARC Round the World Rally is also expected to bring nearly twenty boats from different parts of the world to Grenada. Boats flying the British, French, German, Australian, Canadian and Russian flags will be in Grenada until the 15th.

Sales and Marketing Coordinator of Camper & Nicholsons Danny Donelan, says these boats will be followed by the international media. “Grenada will definitely get media coverage from a wide cross section of the yachting press. This event will give us publicity in many of the major yachting magazines and publications.”

The World ARC Rally began in 2008 when yachts set sail from St. Lucia. The yachts which vary in length from 38ft to 60ft circumnavigate the globe making stops in selected destinations along the way. They've stopped in Cristobal Panama, Salinas Ecuador, Cairns Australia, Cape Town South Africa and have left Recife Brazil to come to Grenada. Then they'll leave Grenada on the 15th of March for the final stop in St. Lucia.
