A HIGH SURF ADVISORY AND SMALL-CRAFT WARNING ARE IN EFFECT FOR BARBADOS
A Low pressure center has formed to the north of the Lesser Antilles and is generating large swells in the central Atlantic. Forecast models indicate that some of these swells will propagate southwards and will lead to deteriorating sea-conditions around the coastal waters of Barbados by late Saturday or early Sunday.
Thus, a High Surf Advisory is in effect for large battering waves and dangerous rip currents along the NORTH, EAST and WEST coasts of Barbados. These hazardous and rough seas with swells peaking at about 4.0 meters, will create unsafe conditions for small crafts and sea-bathers.
The SMALL-CRAFT WARNING is in effect for above-normal sea-swells.
This Advisory and warning will be in effect until Tuesday 10th, March 2009.
